Johnny D.

Johnny Damon is going to cut his hair. Someone, tell me, what does this mean? How does this affect the rest of us?!

KONG (pre-review of movie)

Speaking of cute, fuzzy animals, there is KONG. Now, while he's huge (see blog entry dated Saturday 12/17/05 for a list of other descriptive words to use for Kong), he is cute. Yes, he's fuzzy. Yes, he's very, very strong (get thesaurus out to find a word for "very, very strong"). Jack Black is ace. And DonnaMartin10 likes Adrien. I'll post a review as soon as my mom stops telling me I'm grounded.

I will give a free T-shirt to the person who comes up with the best new word for "very, very strong." One word submissions only.

A in Music Class

In honor of Ms. Cecchetti giving me an A in music so far this semester, we will listen to Marc-Antoine Charpentier's La Descente d'Orphée aux Enfers. I'll try and find it online for you later. I'm late to school.

Update: 12/14/05: Here's the best I could do: An Amazon link. Somewhere in there is my fav. part, but I can't find it yet. Gotta go.

The Clothes Make the Girl

What's inside counts, but YEAH! clothes are SO! important. It's kind of like sports. I mean, if you're on a team and you're not wearing a uniform, you can't play the game. No one will pass you the ball even if they WANT to.

Beautiful

Chloe and Christina Aguilera are so right: words can bring you down. So far down. So, stand stall. Thanks, Chloe for having Christina's song stuck in your head for the last 13 and a half days.

Song for the Day

"Where Is The Love" by the Black Eyed Peas. You can hear it by clicking on the link below and then cursor down to "Where Is The Love," then click on your music player. What's a bummer is that this music sample doesn't play the most excellent chorus to this song: where is the love... where is the love... (Maybe after this posting on my blog they'll change that.) Oh, you can also get this song just as a single if you want, which is cool.

Rain/Cucumbers

I was tossing and turning last night. I'm going to have to put cucumbers over my eyelids later today. It's pouring rain out. No velvet today. Absolutely. And talk about bad hair days. Yeah. Everyone must wear a hat.

Shopping

Ah! The sweet smell of shopping! 'Tis that time of year. Well, actually, it's been that time of year for me most of the year. I absolutely love shopping! Shopping rocks! Shopping is bloggish. Shopping is like fashion: it allows us to express ourselves. (See Blog entry date 7/7/2005 titled "Fashion")

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Alright, can someone tell me what's up with the choreography here? I get the part where the oompa loompa is dancing around the nut sorter drain and I have to say he has great hippie free-love dance arms. I am like SO impressed with that. (I will practice my arms later today.) Kudos to Mr. Oompa Loompa and the choreographer, but what's with the rest of the dance moves in this movie?

Another Fashion Statement for Rockers

I stumbled upon another musician's website. This guy has a video, but I can't easily link it to my blog here (sorry; still looking for the perfect techie to be my guide). Anyway, I think his light green shirt should be replaced with something sort of bead-like, textured. And maybe his toes should be in some sort of thong. Espadrilles. My friend Chloe would like this guy.

Crushed Velvet

Crushed Velvet would be a good name for a band. I can't quite figure out if it would it be a girl band or a boy band or mixed gender? I think maybe a girl kind-of hippie band that dresses in lots of layers and crushed velvet skirts, jackets and vests. I see florals, too. And high top boots. Guitars. Maybe, just maybe, a boy drummer. He would be dirty-blonde with one of those expensive, but messy looking haircuts that falls to about 1/4" above his shoulders. Wisps fall over his eyes. No hair gel.

The Difference Between Crushed Velvet and Velour

Okay, I think my last blog entry warrants a discussion.

Crushed velvet is "velvet processed to have an uneven, slightly wrinkled surface." Velour is "a velvetlike fabric of rayon, wool, or any of several other natural or synthetic fibers, used for outerwear and upholstery." So, to really understand the difference between crushed velvet and velour you have to understand or know what just regular old velvet is. Velvet is "a fabric of silk, nylon, acetate, rayon, etc., sometimes having a cotton backing, with a thick, soft pile formed of loops of the warp thread either cut at the outer end or left uncut. " For a quick translation, possibly better definitions: crushed velvet is an uneven velvet and velour is a velvet wannabe. You know, like a person trying to fit in and who goes a little too far. (Credits: the first three definitions are from the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, Copyright © 1997, by Random House, Inc., on Infoplease. Here's a link so that they don't get all freaky on me:
http://www.infoplease.com/ipd/A0394529.html. The last couple of definitions are de moi which means "from me" in French.)

I can't figure out if that guy's jacket is crushed velvet or velour.

I did it! I figured out how to link that site that plays that good stretching music. Change your position when the guitar rolls in. It's good. As always, don't forget to breathe. This is my gift to you. L.T.

I stumbled upon some great music this morning during a Yahoo! search. I lost the link somehow, but it makes great stretching music. I wish I was techy so I could link it to my blog. I feel really relaxed today. All Karma Dharma Guru.

I have mixed feelings about nail polish. First, I believe all girls should have, well, all people should have clean nails. I mean, even if you're a guy working at a gas station, I'll allow you to have dirty hands while at work, but after work. Come on. Get some goop.
I need to know which vitamin helps skin.

School's Out!

School's out for summer! No more pencils, no more books, no more teachers, dirty looks. No more wannabe's in my face. Got an Ipod just need space. I am so glad school is over. ......... And, of course, here is that famous song that I think even my grandparents listened to. It's by some guy named Alice Cooper. (I'll never understand why his name is Alice.) This song is so old. It's from the 70's. Click on this link, scroll down, then select the song School's Out for whatever media your computer uses. I guess I should have this song on my Ipod. I can't believe I'm putting a song from the 70's on my blog. As always, make sure your volume is up!

Star Wars

Darth Vader before he went to the dark side was a hottie. He is especially cute when he tilts his chin down, and looks up, intense, sort of brooding. I really felt bad for him after his -- well, I won't say so that I don't spoil it for others, but it was nice to see some drama in there. I mean, like emotional drama instead of all that battle this, battle that, techno this, laser that, metal this, astro that. As for Yoda, -- man. I'm tempted to say that he is one cool dude, but he's green! And really, really short and old with hair sprouting every which way. And do these people or creatures ever eat? I was wondering if they did carbs with all that energy they must put out with all that hanging from their fingernails and falling hundreds of feet and landing on their feet or their backs and lots of flips -- front and back. Maybe they have top-notch power bars. If so, you never see any creatures human or droid eat one. And as for another character, gee whiz -- once he was let go, I knew we were in for some trouble. You know, it's not easy talking, okay, writing or blogging about a movie so that you don't spoil it for anyone. Let's get back to Young Darth Vader: What a hottie! Oh, and Natalie Portman does look like me. I mean, we're not twins, but we do look similar.

Back From the Mall

My favorite store was closed due to renovations. What a waste of a day. And to have it closed at this time of year is maddening. I'm trying to focus on the positive rather than just be annoyed and mad about the whole thing. I mean, I thought the store was fine. It was more than fine. It was perfect. But okay, it's always been a great store so I'm sure they know what they're doing. I'm sure they've consulted some trend-setting gurus. But geez, to close it now right on the brink of spring, when the weather has finally changed? Okay, deep breath: the mail-order shirts that my mom nearly forced me to order back in February will be okay for a while. A while. For now I can cover them with my off-white sort of macrame sweater. (Those guys with the hammers better hurry it up.)

Friday AM

Going to the mall. More later.

(You should see the pants my sister got.)

Algebra Done

Algebra done. Time to dance. I wish you could hear this song that's playing on my radio. It's a new one. You know, if I was really techy-savvy, I'd have it on my blog. Gotta go! Shoulder isolations.
